THE ENEMY AT OUR GATE
Anger, violence, a portrait in hate The faces of terrorists knocked at our gate Towers of strength rose to the skies Then, in a moment of horror before our eyes That nameless, faceless, enemy delivered its blow
Why? Why? We ask over and over again Who could nurture so much hate from within? Were they fathers, husbands, brothers or sons? Who were those nameless, hate-filled ones? They perished with those they didn't even know
When you left that morning, I hope you were hugged I pray loved ones told you how much you are loved For in an instant, a moment filled with hate Someone followed orders and decided on your fate For those who love you, left behind, a cruel and crushing blow
We cry out, when will hate stop? Where does this end? It ends when our hearts call a stranger a friend When we look to the skies and remember a Son Who came to our earth and who loved everyone Unconditionally, He gave His life, even for those who hated Him so
For those who lost their lives this tragic day May your souls rest in the arms of our Lord And for those who did this and lost their way I pray your sons and daughters choose to bury your sword For it is in that soil the seed of forgiveness and hope will grow...
