THE FORK IN THE ROAD

Hello, Mamma! It's Yusef here. I rushed straight home from school

Hello, Pappa! Where can you be? The kids all think I'm cool

I taught them words they've never heard. I have so much to tell!

We played with sand, they held my hand

At last, my day went well

We talked about the differences between my world and theirs

But realized when we are friends, that no one really cares

I like this land, I'm glad we're here, I'm feeling very free

Here's my friend, Tim. Can he come in?

Can he play here with me?

Mamma, your eyes are full of tears. Is there something I should know?

Pappa is gone? This cannot be! He said he loves me so

What has he done to everyone? He's left us all alone

I'm feeling cold, and suddenly old

My new friend has gone home
